Community Service Officer

A learning experience in law enforcement.

The CSO Program

Employed student officers patrol all campus property performing designated security, parking enforcement activities and various related administrative functions, thereby assisting the campus community, the general public and the University Police. By fulfilling this function we believe that we have established one of the most professional and successful student assistant programs in the country.

Public Safety facilitates the academic process by providing a safe and secure environment in which our campus community can pursue academic excellence. Our commitment to the Community Service Officer (CSO) program is based on the philosophy that we are:

  • Providing practical experience in law enforcement

  • Train and develop general interest in law enforcement

  • Enhancing our service to the campus community

As student members of the SDSU University Police Department, Community Service Officers act as an important link between police officers and the student population.
