Safety Services

Your safety is our number one priority.  To ensure you feel safe walking throughout the campus, we offer the following free services.

Duress Phones

These emergency "blue light" phones are located throughout campus.  With the push of a button, they give you immediate access to SDSU Police communication center.

Safety Escorts

We encourage you always walk in groups at night, but we understand there may be times when you are alone and want safe passage back to your vehicle or your residential hall.  We are just a call away.  You may request a safety escort from dusk to dawn, seven days a week by calling (619) 594-6659 or by using any duress phone on campus.  Our Community Service Officers, and when needed Police Officers, provide safety escorts to parking lots/structures, residential halls, Albert’s apartments and Greek houses.

Red & Black Shuttle

The Red & Black Shuttle operates Monday through Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters.  This shuttle drives a loop around campus stopping at 13 shuttle stops and offers convenient pickup locations that give easy access to the campus core.  The shuttles run approximately every 10-15 minutes depending on traffic.  Red & Black Route.

Library Shuttle

The Library Shuttle operates Sunday through Thursday from 10:45 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. during the fall and spring semesters.  This shuttle picks up students on the north side of the library by the dome and provides transportation from the library to parking lots/structures, residential halls, Albert’s apartments and Greek houses.   The shuttle does not have a pick up schedule; rather it runs continuously to/from the library based on passenger demand and their location of drop off.

Accessibility

The Red & Black and Library Shuttles do provide accessible van service.  Safety escorts are provided on foot or by patrol vehicles.  Should you need accommodation during the normal hours of operation of the shuttle services for your class schedule, please call (619) 594-6659.  In addition, Student Disability Services has acquired an accessible golf cart for those students needing transportation to and from classes.
