California's Megan's Law requires that certain information about sex offenders be made available upon request to members of the public, so that the public is better prepared to protect themselves and their children. The California Office of the Attorney General has developed this website where citizens are encouraged to review information about registered sex offenders. The website provides specified information and, in most cases, a photo of the offender and the violations committed by the registrant.
Anyone who uses information contained in the Megan's Law database to commit a criminal act against another person is subject to criminal prosecution.
