Mission Statement

The San Diego State University Police Department is committed to promoting a safe environment for all who come to the San Diego State University campuses, properties, and events in a manner that is fair, transparent, and respectful.

Vision

In partnership with the SDSU Community, we will strive to provide a safe and inclusive educational environment at all SDSU Campus locations and events.  Through this collaborative process, we endeavor to achieve our mission through the use of our core values.

Core Values

  • Environment:

    • Providing the safest SDSU Community, including SDSU campuses, properties, and the greater College Area.
  • Engagement:

    • Interacting with the SDSU Community; students, staff, alumni, parents, residents, and visitors in a safe and inclusive manner.
  • Education:

    • Through engagement we are able to participate in a two-way process in which all members of UPD can learn from the community about quality of life issues, and at the same time, members of the community can learn about legal aspects as well as campus policies and procedures.
  • Enforcement:

    • Upholding the constitutional rights of all while applying the law in a consistent and unbiased manner.
  • Empowerment:

    • Providing training and resources to the campus community to facilitate active involvement by all in the campus’ safety endeavors.
  • Empathy:

    • To actively listen for the purpose of understanding members of the community with whom we engage at SDSU.
